Slightly off topic, but an entertaining summer reading, this historical novel tell the consequence of napoleonic era on Brazil and Portugal, through the eventfull life history of Pedro de Bragança, from exiled portuguese heir to emperor of Brazil, then champion of parlementarian monarchy in Portugal.

The book, ("El imperio eres tu" in spanish), written as a movie script, provide a broad picture of brazilian society and political struggle from 1810 to 1834, and wealth of details on dozen of characters involved in the contest between portuguese/brazilian monarchists, parlementarian and radicals, mixed with Pedro's numerous affairs, which interacted deeply with political debate.
