Hi, heres a bit of an odd one.
I have just read on the net that 'A Doctor during the Napoleonic Wars invented the metal eyelet' (I hope it wasn't some form of stitching after surgery!) The article didn't say if it was during the 1st Empire period of later. Can any one confirm this story and when it might have been?
