Re: 1814 Borders?
In Response To: 1814 Borders? ()

Places such as Porrentruy, Delémont. Biel and such were part of the Département du Haut-Rhin from 1800 (after the French revolutionaries arrived some were in the Département du Mont Terrible). At the Congress of Vienna they were given to the Swiss Canton of Bern (later after considerable aggitation, the Canton of Jura was formed, some stayed as part of Bern). Best would be to find a map of the République helvétique which might show more detail. I do not have to hand the exact date for the transfers, though I would suppose it is after the 1814 campaign (thus Wiel's comment should be France proper). - R
