I find it suspicious that his application for the Legion of Honor in 1807 makes no reference to any mission to Berlin. It certainly would improve his chances for getting into the legion. In fact for all of 1806, his service record simply states that he was serving in the 7th Corps of the Grande Armee. Definitely makes me suspect that his diplomatic mission to Berlin might be another of Marbot's inventions along with saving the Eagle of the 14e Ligne at Eylau.
