Dwyer is a legitimate historian and has used a large variety of sources (unlike Paul Johnson or Schom). I don't fault his research. I just think he goes overboard with his characterization of Napoleon as essentially someone with absolutely no positive qualities. Unless that's what you're looking for, it gets tedious after a while. I don't think I'll do a review because I'd have to be too negative (I've liked other books Dwyer has written, however). I'm sorry that Napoleon once kicked Dwyer's dog.
It is true that according to Dwyer the only battles Napoleon had a hand in were defeats, all victories were either won by subordinates or lost by opponents.
