Very strange. British experienced a lot of crushing defeats against the french in the same period (Fontenoy, Ticonderonga, for example).
If the explanation is tactical, how does it cope with defeats ?
I thought that the root cause was more strategical, with the multiplicity of France foes, England being only a minor one compared to Austria or Prussia (for France, Rhine and Po valleys were more strategical than Canada and India, mainland than sea; hence the local superiority conceded to Britain).
Kind regards,
Jean
