I have been interested in the value of the paintings by Simeone Fort and Thomas(I think) Jung as sources for grand tactical formations. The paintings do have the look of "reality" about them but I would lke to know more about the history and background of Fort and Jung.

Fort's paintings date from the 1830s means he would have access to eyewitnesses from the battles and contemporary commanders.
