There are two volumes I have found useful in documenting the Royal Navy's repeated arson up and down the Chesapeake:

-The Burning of Washington: The British Invasion of 1814 by (the aptly-named) Anthony Pitch, published by The Naval Institute Press, and

-Flotilla: The Patuxent Naval Campaign in the War of 1812 by Donald Shomette, published by The Johns Hopkins University Press.

While not a focal point of either volume, enough is mentioned, and evidence provided, for the repeated acts of British arson, pillaging, and looting in the Chesapeake in 1813-1814 to give substance to the accusations in this area against the Royal Navy.
