Re: Napoleon Frightens English Children

The English used a similar 'frightening' tactic for children during the wars with Robert the Bruce, concerning his lieutenant, the Black Douglas.

When Douglas' and his men were scaling the wall of an English castle in southern Scotland/northern England, Douglas reached the top of the wall and there was an English woman with her infant sitting on the ramparts trying to stop her baby from fussing. Douglas heard her say to the infant, 'if you're quiet, the Black Douglas will not come.' Douglas came up behind her and quietly told her 'I wouldn't be too sure of that' undoubtly scaring the woman half to death.
