Caulaincourt

I have been away for a while and have just looked in on the forum for the first time for some time.

I have long been in a minority who think Napoleon had a great sense of humour. Admittedly, a little puerile. So, it is with regret I discover his sense of humour has been a recent topic of discussion. Forgive me if someone else has already mentioned it but, in Caulaincourt, I have read, there is an example of him giggling on the sleigh on the way back to Paris from the ill-fated Moscow campaign. Caulaincourt says he started giggling and could not stop.

Surely, any man that can laugh in such circumstances must have a wonderful sense of humour.
