I have read that the British infantry reserve ammunition was carried in artillery caissons. Assuming this is true. . .
1. Were the caissons specially built to hold infantry ammunition?
2. If so how many cartridges could a caisson hold?
3. If the caisson was just a standard artillery caisson, how many cartridges could it hold?
4. In the 1815 Waterloo Campaign how many caissons were dedicated to a British / Anglo-Allied division?
Thanks!
