You can call me sceptical if you like ...

... but I fail to see, from the blurb, what this book will reveal that we don’t already know (leaving aside some questionable assertions). I’d hazard a guess and suggest that anyone interested in reading about this specific period in the “The Peninsular War 1807-1814”, would be better off buying a nice second hand copy of the “concise history” of that war by Michael Glover. Why? you might ask. Well, after reading chapters 9, 10 and 11 entitled, respectively, The Third French Invasion of Portugal, The Watershed, and The Fortresses, which cover both the history of all of the sieges plus all related military activity in the regions in which Ciudad Rodrigo and Badajoz are situated, you can then read up on anything that falls outside the timescale April 1810 to April 1812. :-( A
