Quiberon Expedition 1795

Hi All,
The Quiberon Expedition is usually defined as running from 23 June to 21 July 1795, when 2 Divisions of French Royalists, supported by the British 19th, 27th and 90th Foot, landed to stir up a Royalist counter revolution. It ended badly. Yet a British Brigade seems to have been sent out under Maj Gen Welbore Doyle in August to reinforce it? The Brigade was made up of, 12th, 78th and 80th Foot [and possibly Sir Thomas Graham’s 90th]. Doyle’s force seems to still have been in the area in September, on the Ile d’Yeu. Does anyone have more details please.

Oh, yes, nearly forgot – Hornblower was there too – see ‘The Frogs and the Lobsters’ – he got away ok!!

Thanks Paul.
