I thought she did a good job characterizing the various figures of the era, that was the best part for me. There were a lot of issues I would have liked to be covered, but weren't (for example, the restored European regimes that then proceeded to persecute non-Catholics, either the White Terror in France or the return of the Inquisition in Spain-what did the Protestant Ascendency think about that?). Also it was never clear to me, at any given point in time, what anti-Catholic policies were still "on the books" as well as which Penal Laws were just being ignored. You get a little of that, plus things were different in England than in Ireland (and even in Canada, for example). I think she could have been clearer on that, though it's obviously complicated.
