I didn't know that the War of the First Coalition began in 1792 when "Austria, Prussian, and Britain, amongst others, invaded revolutionary France." Difficult for the British to invade in 1792 when France didn't bother to declare war on them until February 1793. But then I looked at the source from which this claim arose, and all was explained.
No idea why the Austrian general, Argenteau, is consistently misspelled as "Argentau." Perhaps it sounded more Germanic?
