recasting guns
In Response To: Observations and questions. ()

I believe it was common practice in all nations to recast old barrels when a new construction was designed. Except maye for some single beautiful pieces, or a few barrels kept as a sample. And of course, all the guns which were trophies form foreign nations.

The old barrels would not be of any more use, but the bronze they were cast from continued to be valuable.
