Both the RHA and the foot artillery were mobile as they used the same limbers, caissons, and field pieces.

The RHA was designed to keep up with cavalry and support them. The gunners either rode individual mounts or rode on the limbers and caissons as the boxes could double as seats. This enabled them to displace faster than the foot artillery and get to where they were supposed to go.

The foot artillery was supposed to walk. But some of them could also ride their limbers and caissons.

The Royal Artillery drivers had a split personality. Those assigned to the foot brigades were not well thought of, especially the officers. Those assigned to the RHA, however, were permanently assigned to the RHA troops and were under RHA officers, not artillery train officers.

The RHA was supposed to, and was originally intended to use a smaller caliber field piece, the 6-pounder, but for the Waterloo campaign some of the RHA troops were upgunned to the 9-poounder which was the standard field piece for the foot artillery.

It should be noted that the usual nomenclature for long guns, such as the 6- and 9- pounders, were not equal among all of the different artillery arms. Pounds differed between Austria, Great Britain, and France, for example. The French 8-pounder was almost equal in throw weight to the English 9-pounder, and among the different pieces rated as 6-pounders, the Austrian 6-pounder threw the lightest round of the three and the French the heaviest. So the 'pounder' nomenclature can be misleading.

And it should be noted that the RHA and the foot artillery were all part of the Royal Artillery.
