Thanks for drawing attention to this fascinating, though pricey, work. I see that you also have an interest in this period of Indian history, and really enjoyed reading your article on Monson's retreat on the Napoleon Series website. I wonder if you might therefore be able to answer the following question...

I am currently researching the life of a Somerset born captain of the 12th BNI. This fellow served with the Bengal Europeans at Seringapatnam in 1799, later transferring into the 12th, with whom he fought at Laswari in 1803. He was with Monson on the retreat where he suffered a severe headwound and was forced to retire on half pay back to Bath, where he died in the 1850s.
My question is - do you know if the records exist that would state which battalion officers were attached to? Both battalions were present at Laswari and the Monson debacle, but only 2/12th actually got to grips with the Marathas at the former.

A long shot I think, but if you - anyone - can help I would be most grateful.
