Mike Leggiere announced the very first day of our graduate seminar on Napoleon that thank you very much, but he was going to study the Prussians. And he did, all the time, at length, volubly, well-researched, and balanced. These days his Prussians are unstoppable in the academic and historians' world.

So Mike's opinion of this latest Esdaile is spot-on, and unsullied by any claims of "Bonapartism." Although I suspect the usual folks will try to wave that broad brush around.
