Intended as a campaign guide for historical wargaming, this volume covers the initial invasion of Egypt by general Napoleon Bonaparte’s army of the orient in July, 1798. Taking a different view of the standard history, this volume looks at Napoleon’s ‘pyramid campaign’, over the month of July as a distinct campaign. Facing the powerful French army in 1798 was an almost impossible task for the Egyptian army. Intended to form a companion to Charles Grant’s Napoleon’s Campaign in Egypt Vol 1: The French Army (2006); and, Napoleon’s Campaign in Egypt Vol 2: The British Army and Allies (2007), which extensively covers the French army of the orient, this volume covers the less well known Egyptian army at the close of the 18th century, and placing it at the forefront, explaining its tactics, organisation, general appearance, and uniforms, in 1798, and its military response from the Egyptian perspective to the French invasion.
