Gosh! The things people think of! I hope they were certain of the provenance of the trousers: who kept a dated series of them?
Checking my tape measure I find that 110cm is 43 inches and I know my 6ft plus husband takes a 40in waistband these days. However I get the impression that in those days the waistband fitted across the paunch rather than allowing it to hang over (were they using braces?)
There is a quote in Bertrand's diaries for the last couple of years (I had this somewhere but can't locate it now) at the time when they installed a seesaw in the Emperor's chamber to give him some exercise and Bertrand noted that he weighed as much as (Novarraz?) who was over six foot. So that would seem about right.
