Henry and Napoleon make an interesting comparison, but they are separated by more than just centuries. Henry was not unusual for his time, the difference is The Enlightenment. There had been a paradigm shift away from the devine right of kings, Britain had had it's civil war, and after dalliance with a sovereign parliament ended up with a Lord Protector who tried to establish a dynasty. France had it's revolution and then ended up with an Emperor who tried to establish a dynasty.

If you are going to exercise a comparison, I would suggest Oliver Cromwell as a much better subject. Both were military men and of relatively humble birth. Both emerged during a period of political upheaval. Both ultimately failed in their dynastic ambitions. They could both be considered in their own way to be one of the big, bad figures in history.
