Tracking down a quote from Waterloo

Year ago, I read about a British officer (sorry, I can't remember his name) who was unhorsed and wounded at Waterloo. While laying on the ground, a French lancer came by and said something to the effect of "You're not dead yet", stabbed the officer, and then moved on. (Later, a French infantryman came by him, and kept up a lively conversation with the British officer while he fired off several rounds, and then departed, saying something to the effect of "You'll be happy to know that we are now retreating.").

I am hoping someone here is familiar with this story, and can tell me the name of the British officer, and, more important, exactly what the French lancer said to him.

Thank you.
