Radet was an excellent officer and soldier. The pope got what he deserved. After his 'departure' the Inquisition in Rome was abolished as was the Jewish ghetto. Unfortunately, both were reinstituted when the pope returned to Rome in 1814 and ecclesiastical rule was restored.
