At times Napoleon did try to copy his royalist antecedents, but such ideas as changing the color of infantry coats was not royalist, it was because a good blue dye was not available in France. Light blue was considered for the dragoons, for example, because to get the proper color green two colors had to be used-dark blue and yellow.

The bottom line is that Napoleon was not a royalist and had supported the Revolution. He had also turned down Louis XVIII when he suggested to Napoleon to restore the Bourbons. Napoleon did offer financial support to Louis, but that was it.
