Re: Review-France's War of Conquest in the Rhinela

I didn't read the book so I don't know what Hayworth has exactly written but concerning Nofi's review I noticed some mistakes or inaccuracies when he writes : He also demonsrated that the vaunted « Fervor » of the conscripts of 1793 – another myth of the French historiography –.
1) There were no conscripts in the French army before the Jourdan’s law of 1798.
2) Concerning the « vaunted fervor » of the French soldiers in 1793, I assume that Nofi muddled up the Volunteers of 1792 and the draftees of 1793. In 1793, « la levée de 300,000 hommes » and later « la levee en masse » were the cause of many upraisings in France, the most known beeing the war in Vendee.
3) The so called myth in the French historiography is nothing but pure imagination. It seems that Nofi (and probably Hayworth) haven’t read the books by Jean-Paul Bertaud which give very detailed studies about the French army in the age of the French revolution.
