All French troops should have been skirmishing capable, as indeed the infantry of all other nations as well, now could the Young Guard do it efficiently in 1813 - due to lack of training - that is the question.

The best French infantry in 1813 - with the exception of the Old Guard allegedly were the réigments d' artillerie de marine (and indeed were mistooken somethimes for being Guard units).

I would regard them as all purpose infantry.
