I see. In general terms I agree with him insofar as I tend to take the view that, by and large, anybody who writes a biography must do so because they are motivated by either admiration or disapproval of their subject. I understand, though, that Lefebvre's is more a history of the First Empire than a biography.

I wasn't really asking for a review, though I do read reviews because I am not completely informed on everything.

I have never thrown a book away. I have given books away though. You might consider that as an alternative to the bin.

This, however, digresses from the purpose of my question at the top of the thread.
