Ideally you should read Lefebvre just after you read Bainville's Napoleon or the lectures on Napoleon by Maréchal Foch. As with most Fench books about Napoleon, it is not really about Napoleon at all, but about the politics of the period it was written in, in this case post WW1 France from the anti militarist and anti "Action française" perspective. A bit naive, but still a very important book in that it has set the tone for a whole generation of French historians.
