Era gun-carriages v.s. R.J. Nelson, 1846?

I have a copy of R.J. Nelson's GUN CARRIAGES; An Aide Memoire to the Military Sciences, 1846, reprinted by Museum Restoration Service, 1972, as Historical Arms Series no. 13. AFAIK, this is still available, as I got my replacement copy a couple years back from Dixie Gun Works. The drawings in this work basically represent the variety that was in the army inventory at the time it was published.

A number of block trail and bracket carriages are illustrated (along with a number of naval and bastion carriages), whose designs suggest that little may have changed since the Napoleonic era. I am wondering whether there were any significant changes in British artillery carriages between the era and the publication of Nelson's work. Does anyone know anything about this?

Outside of artillery carriages proper, I noticed that the drawing of a forge wagon looks virtually identical to a colonial-era reproduction of which I once saw a photo on the Colonial Williamsburg web site.

Thanks, John
