It is most likely John Grant, Portuguese Lieutenant Colonel 6 December 1809, of the Lusitanian Legion.

Lieutenant Colonel Grant was taken in the beginning of September 1811 in Upper Estremadura, while observing the enemy's movements. He was retaken outside of Talavera, by a guerrilla band commanded by Temprano, before 30 October, 1811.
