John Vincent, not as well known as his contemporaries, he did good work in 1813 and was well served by his subordinates.

Vincent, John (1764 - 21 January 1848)

Ensign 66th Foot 1781, Lieutenant 66th Foot 1782, Half-pay, Lieutenant 49th Foot 1783, Captain-Lieutenant 49th Foot 1786, Captain 49th Foot 1794, Brevet Major 1795, Major 49th Foot 1795, Brevet Lieutenant Colonel 1800, Lieutenant Colonel 49th Foot 1811, Brevet Colonel 1810, Brigadier General on the Staff 1813, Major General 1813, Lieutenant General 1825, General 1841.

Service 1793-1815: West Indies 1793-1797 and prisoner of war 1798, Helder 1799, Baltic 1801, British North America 1802-1813 and in War of 1812 commanding in Upper Canada 1813 and on staff Lower Canada 1813-1814.

Colonel of the 69th Foot 1836-1848
