Yes, Stoney Creek was due to the efforts of Major and Brevet Lieutenant Colonel John Harvey, the Deputy Adjutant General.

However, all credit to Vincent for sending Harvey to reconnoitre the American position, for agreeing to place some of his precious regulars (700 to attack 3,500 Americans) under the command of an officer who had never commanded a force in battle before and for a night attack to boot.

Vincent made the correct decision to dig in on Burlington Heights and harrass the Americans.

After Stoney Creek (and Beaver Dams), the British hemmed the Americans in at Fort George although outnumbered by the Americans 2:1.
