Re: Cavalry tactics
In Response To: Re: Cavalry tactics ()

Oscar,

The original British Cavalry Regulations "Instructions and Regulations for the Formations and Movements of the Cavalry" were published in 1796. A number of editions were printed. This digital version is the 3rd edition from 1799. I have a hard copy of the 4th edition from 1801. As far as I can tell they are identical.

I also have an electronic copy of the first edition (1798) of "An Elucidation of Several Parts of His Majesty's Regulations for the Formations and Movements of the Cavalry" plus a hard copy 5th edition of 1822, which again seems to be identical in wording (and even in the detailed words per line in each paragraph) although there are a couple of pages difference in overall length which I have not yet identified the reason for. I particularly like this book for its clear diagrams and explanatory text for many cavalry formations and movements, both on the parade ground and tactically.
