Death of Townley Ward Douglas
In Response To: The Gentleman's Magazine Obit. ()

Thank you! The Naval Chronicle was very helpful. S0, it seems he was killed at Naskow, now called Nakskov, on the island of Lolland, Denmark. I noticed that about 30 or 40 kilometers away, at the south end of the island is a nice Harbor for the town of Nysted - perhaps that is what was referred to as Mystad, mentioned in the Gentleman's magazine. I assume that Styrna, near Gottenberg is likely Styrsö island off of Gothenburg, Sweden, where he was buried. I was surprised that they carried the body 450 or so kilometers to a place for burial, instead of burying him at sea. I know that Admiral Nelson was brought home for burial, but was it common for a young officer, such as in this instance? Or, should I be looking for something closer to Nakskov?
Does anyone know where to find an image of this HMS Ulysses?
Thank you again for all the help.
