I have no idea what Bernadotte's agenda was in 1806. However, his refusal to support Davout and his failure to engage on either battlefield on 14 October clearly demonstrates either treachery or incompetence on his part.

The bottom line is that Bernadotte was for Bernadotte, and not much else.
