Re: Why Moscow and not St. Petersburg?

Thanks guys for your input! I forgot about the Russian army and was thinking in terms of cities. Do you think that Napoleon would have been more successful had his army been comprised of more Frenchmen? I saw an argument somewhere that had he invaded with a more French army the campaign would at the very lease not been as much of a disaster. I personally have mixed feelings on this. I believe about 350,000 French troops went into Germany (325,000 originally+25000 reinforcements) so French was still the largest contingent. Also many of the German and Polish soldiers fought with as much skill as the French. I also feel however that a smaller more mobile French force would have been more successful. Let me know your thoughts!
