Tell the Emperor I die for him!

Thought I would share the following anecdote I read in Roberts' Napoleon (it takes place during the battle of Wagram):

" Seeing that Macdonald needed further support, Napoleon released Wrede’s 5,500-strong Bavarian Division and some of the Young Guard. (Lightly wounded in this attack, Wrede melodramatically cried out, ‘Tell the Emperor I die for him!’ only to receive the robust reply from Macdonald: ‘You’ll live; tell him yourself.’ "
