Ladies and Gentlemen,
I'm going through my manuscript on Scharnhorst, and want to make sure my translations are correct and in the spirit of his intent. And I would appreciate any assistance you can provide. I would also like to thank Oliver Schmidt and Hans-Karl Weiss for their help in the past.
This time Scharnhorst is writing to his wife Klara about his captaincy. He uses the terms "titular" (which I translated as "provisional" or "temporary") and "wirklich" (which I translated as "actual" or "permanent"). First, are my translations good. And second, would you know of any sources that clarify these terms (so I can cite them in a footnote)?
Thanks for your continuing support. Take care and God bless!
