We are looking at Alderney which doesn't have purchase restrictions.

Given how close the islands are to France and their status as Royalist havens it just seems strange that no serious attempt was made to get control during the wars of Revolution and Empire. Having British territory on his doorstep should have been a permanent irritation to a control freak like Napoleon. I find it hard to believe he never drew up any plans but the deafening silence from the Forum suggests that may be the case.
