It is said further in the Russian text that in the Russian army in the middle of the 18th century the hussars were considered as “equal” to the dragoons, so there were 1 kettledrummer, 2 trumpeters and 20 drummers in each hussar regiment, and the colours of the hussar regiments were of the same pattern as those of the dragoon regiments. New hussar regiments, which were raised in 1750s, gradually abandoned the colours and drums and adopted standards and more trumpets.
