Childhood health conditions varied by country. Those young men who grew up in France during the Revolution may well have had issues relating to the disruption of agricultural activity during that period that affected their later adult health. In the Peninsula the British troops were often being better fed then the civilians due to economic factors (food and other goods follow the money).
