Markus, thank you kindly for all that. I am indeed aware of SN 11 as I did order, receive (very quickly!!), and read it. I was trying to trace back the Pigeard reference, which as Hans-Karl says (thank you H-K) is unexplained.

While I have your ear I have a question for you that I raised in a recent thread on this same subject. - Do you know where the captions for the Suhr plates come from? I ask because based on the regimental history of the 13e Ligne it is very unlikely the Suhrs were ever eyewitnesses to this regiment. So could the caption "[roughly] 13th, 14th, and 15th of the Line" have been added by someone else?
