Could not agree more, Michael Glover was an excellent historian and moreover his books are not only comprehensively researched often, also, replete with very fine contemporary prints – as is this one. The lack of a modern scholarly apparatus in this book means that the researcher has to be a little more diligent, when following up his sources, than perhaps s/he might prefer. However, perseverance pays off and the pointers to really useful sources are many and varied. Glover also edited and annotated George Hennel’s letters in “ A Gentleman Volunteer” a really interesting book that I think) was remaindered very early on and, as a result, second hand copies are available today at a snip.
