The film does deal with that particular plot point Susan, when you have Munro angrily asking his daughters what they were doing there, when he told them to stay away and also where the hell were his reinforcements.
It's changed to all part of Maguas plot to murder the Munros.
I would reccomend giving it a watch at least once, its better than thr book and there are some fantastic battle scenes
