It is interesting that the 1796 Russian infantry regulations are interpretation of a book in French titled "La tactique et discipline selon les nouveaux réglemens prussiens" (Tactics and discipline after new Prussian regulations), the French interpreter is Louis-Marie Fouquet de Belle-Isle, Count de Gisors, who was mortally wounded on 23 June 1758 in the Battle of Krefeld. There are two editions of this book on Googlebooks, the second edition: Francfort et Leipzig 1759, the fourth edition: Francfort et Leipzig, 1770, in the title of the latter edition, there is "ou" (or) instead of "et" (and).

The Russian interpretation was first printed in St.Petersburg in 1794 under the title "Опыт полевого воинского искусства" (Essay on Field Military Art).
