No walking guide of any battlefield on basis of only the memoirs of individual soldiers can give a total, not even a broader, insight of a battle, as those individuals did only have a very narrow insight of only their narrow surroundings, mostly only of their own unit (or group of units if they were a superior commanding officer), and can't put themself in a position of having a bird's eyeview.

The basic methodology of historical research implies that such texts are to be read very carefully, bearing in mind that all what they tell and all what the author writes is mostly based also on other sources, which are often forgotten to be mentioned, or on his own conclusions made up on the total assembly of all those memoirs, who can contradict themselves.
