Marc if what you say is so, battlefield touring would have little value. However, veryfying testimony on the ground, could they actually see what they said they saw from where they claim to have seen it can be invaluable. Generals were not to have the services of battlefield helicopters for more than 250 years. The historian is wanting a perspective no general of the period ever had. Charles Esdaile is a respected professor, and I for one am willing to place a little trust his way. There are many scholarly essays to balance it, so a different perspective may bring a little insight to a very well worn topic,
