In Response To: 8pounder guns at Ligny ? ()

Why not? The Bonn Museum "Bundeskunsthalle" showed some years ago in his exhibition on N. a French 8-Pdr. from 1813. Generally, after the disaster in Russia, the French artillery had to fall back on older (= heavier) artillery material in order to equip the field batteries. This holds for the train, too. Massive losses in the Leipzig campaign and afterwards made the equipment situation even more complicated in 1814 (loss of pontoon trains, lack of muskets, ...). I guess there was no complete remedy until 1815.

Best wishes, Thomas
