It is unclear exactly what type of rifles they had. I could never find any evidence. The contract for the Lowenstein Fusiliers stated that they were to be armed with rifles like the Prussian ‘Schutzen’ and that of the Hompesch Light Infantry that most of the men be similarly armed, but 10 men per company were to have a 'new type' of rifled carbine. Each proprietor of each regiment would have purchased the weapons for their units.
